Wedding and Event Planning Trends in the Philippines in 2023

Wedding and event planning in the Philippines is an ever-evolving industry, with new trends constantly emerging. As we look ahead to 2023, there are several exciting trends to look out for.

Sustainability

One trend that we expect to see more of is sustainability. With climate change becoming an increasingly pressing issue, many couples are looking for ways to reduce the environmental impact of their wedding or event. This may include using locally-sourced, organic, or biodegradable materials, choosing venues with eco-friendly practices, or opting for a low-waste approach to food and drink.

Automation

Another trend that we anticipate seeing more of is technology integration. From interactive displays and augmented reality experiences to social media sharing and virtual reality elements, technology is becoming increasingly important in the event planning process. This is especially true in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, as people have become more accustomed to virtual events and online communication.

Towards Minimalism

In terms of aesthetics, we expect to see a continued focus on minimalism and simplicity, with clean lines, neutral colors, and natural textures taking center stage. However, we also anticipate a rise in bold, statement-making elements such as bright colors, oversized floral arrangements, and unique lighting installations.

Simple Intimate Wedding

Personalization

Finally, we predict that personalization will continue to be a key trend in event planning. Couples and clients are increasingly looking for ways to make their events unique and reflective of their personalities, whether through custom signage, personalized favors, or bespoke entertainment options.

Overall, the wedding and event planning landscape in the Philippines is constantly evolving, with new trends and innovations emerging each year. By staying up-to-date with the latest trends and tailoring their services to meet the needs of their clients, event planners can ensure that their events are both memorable and successful.

From "Yes" to "I Do": A Foolproof Guide to Planning Your Wedding in the Philippines

Congratulations on getting engaged! You've just taken the first step towards a lifetime of love, laughter, and, of course, wedding planning. As someone who has planned her own wedding in the Philippines, let me tell you that it's no easy feat. The country's diverse culture, terrain, and weather can pose several challenges, but it can also provide an excellent backdrop for your special day. In this blog post, I'll share my top tips for planning your wedding in the Philippines. Whether you're a local or a foreigner, you'll find the information you need to make your wedding dreams a reality.

Setting the Date and Budget

The first step to planning any wedding is figuring out the date and budget. In the Philippines, it's crucial to consider the weather when choosing your wedding date. The country has two main seasons: wet and dry. The dry season runs from November to April, while the wet season spans from May to October. If you're planning an outdoor ceremony or reception, it's best to avoid the rainy months as much as possible. As for your budget, consider the cost of the venue, catering, decorations, and other expenses. The Philippines has an array of wedding venues that cater to different budgets. Do your research, ask for quotes, and negotiate to get the best deals.

Choosing the Right Venue

The venue sets the tone for your wedding and can make or break your big day. The Philippines has an abundance of stunning locales, from beachfront resorts to lush gardens and grand ballrooms. When choosing a venue, consider your preferred theme, capacity, and accessibility. If you're planning an outdoor wedding, make sure the venue has a contingency plan in case of rain. Choose a venue that gives you ample space for your guests, caterers, and other suppliers.

Hiring the Right Suppliers

Your wedding day will involve several suppliers, from the florist to the band and the photographer. It's essential to choose reputable, experienced, and reliable suppliers who can deliver your vision. Research and read reviews, ask for referrals from other couples or wedding planners, and schedule face-to-face meetings. Don't hesitate to ask questions and take your time before making any decisions. Make sure to sign contracts and go over the details to avoid any misunderstandings.

Navigating the Legal Requirements

Getting married in the Philippines involves several legal requirements, especially for foreigners. You'll need to get a marriage license, certify your civil status, and go through a pre-marriage counseling seminar. It's best to consult a lawyer or wedding planner who can guide you through the process. Take note that the Philippines does not have a divorce law, so make sure you're ready to commit to your partner for life.

Enjoying the Festivities

Finally, the most crucial tip to planning your wedding in the Philippines is to enjoy the festivities. The country's rich culture and traditions offer plenty of opportunities to infuse your personality and preferences into your wedding. From incorporating Filipino elements in your attire, decor, and food, to having a fun-filled after-party, your wedding day should reflect who you are as a couple. Don't stress over the details, and remember that the most important thing is the love you share with your partner.

Conclusion

Planning your wedding in the Philippines may seem intimidating, but it can also be a memorable and exciting experience. By setting the date and budget, choosing the right venue and suppliers, navigating the legal requirements, and enjoying the festivities, you can create a wedding that's uniquely yours. The most important thing is to focus on the love you share with your partner, and let that shine through in every aspect of your big day. Congratulations again, and best of luck on your wedding planning journey!

Say Yes to the Stress: A Quick Guide on How to Plan Your Dream Wedding in the Philippines

So, you've finally got that shiny ring on your finger and you're excited, ecstatic, and everything in between. Now, it's time to plan that dream wedding. But wait, where do you start? Well, if you're looking for a gorgeous backdrop for your special day, look no further than the Philippines. As one of the most beautiful countries in Asia, the Philippines has become a popular choice for destination weddings. But don't worry about the stress, because we've got your back. Here are a few tips to help you plan your dream wedding in the Philippines.

First Things First

First off, you need to decide where you want to get married. The Philippines is a diverse country that offers different wedding destinations, each with its own unique charms. Whether it's the pristine beaches of Boracay or Palawan, the lush greenery of Tagaytay or Baguio, or the bustling cityscapes of Manila or Cebu, the choices are endless. Once you've decided on the location, the next step is to scout for wedding venues. There are many beautiful venues all over the country, from five-star hotels and resorts to quaint and charming garden and beachfront venues. The important thing is to find a venue that suits your style, budget, and vision for your wedding.

Second the Motion

Second, you need to book your wedding suppliers. A wedding in the Philippines is not complete without the services of a good wedding planner. A wedding planner can help make the process of planning a wedding stress-free and enjoyable. They can help you find the best suppliers, from photographers and videographers to florists and makeup artists. They can also help you with the legal requirements and documentation needed for your wedding. Make sure to book your suppliers in advance, as they tend to get fully booked quickly, especially during peak wedding season.

Thirdly

Third, you need to pay attention to the cultural and religious traditions of the location where you're getting married. The Philippines is a predominantly Catholic country, and many Filipinos still follow traditional customs and practices during weddings. For example, it's customary for the bride to walk down the aisle with her father, and for the groom to have "ninongs" or godfathers who will act as witnesses to the wedding. It's also common for the couple to have sponsors or "ninongs and ninangs" who will give them advice and guidance throughout their married life. Understanding and respecting these traditions will not only make you feel more at home but will also make your wedding more meaningful and memorable.

Fourthly

Fourth, plan your menu carefully. One of the best things about getting married in the Philippines is the food. Filipino cuisine is a glorious mix of Spanish, Chinese, and Malay influences. A traditional Filipino wedding feast usually includes a variety of dishes, from lechon or roasted pig, adobo or braised meat in soy sauce and vinegar, to pancit or noodles and rice. Be sure to include vegetarian and halal options if needed, and don't forget the dessert. Consider having a Filipino dessert bar with traditional sweets such as leche flan, ube halaya, and bibingka.

Finally

Fifth and finally, don't forget to have fun and enjoy your special day. A wedding is not just about the ceremony and reception, it's about celebrating your love and commitment to each other. Take time to relax, breathe, and savor every moment. And don't worry about the small details, because at the end of the day, what matters most is that you're marrying the love of your life, in one of the most beautiful countries in the world.

Conclusion

Planning a wedding can be stressful, especially if you're doing it in a foreign country. But with the right mindset, tools, and support, you can make it an unforgettable experience. The Philippines is a wonderful destination for a wedding, with its natural beauty, warm hospitality, and rich culture. Just remember to plan ahead, book your suppliers early, respect the traditions and customs of the location, plan your menu carefully, and most importantly, have fun and enjoy your big day. Happy planning!

5 Things You Should Never Do in a Filipino Wedding

Filipino weddings are a BIG deal in the traditional Philippine culture.

How is it a big deal?

Well, for starters, weddings in the Philippines are regarded as a great milestone in life, a very huge favor/blessing from God  that needs to be celebrated with the clan. Yes, Celebrated in a grand way! Some wedding celebrations last for a couple of weeks to accommodate families, friends and relatives coming from outside the country. And because of very close-knit family ties, Philippine weddings are huge with an average of 150 guests to as much as 1000 guests at the wedding reception hall.

Since relatives, friends, families, coworkers, acquaintances come together in one event, expect a diversity full of personalities, backgrounds, and mannerisms. Whether you are invited to attend the wedding or not, you can come as long as you are closely related to the bride and groom, or parents of either wedding party for that matter.

And because guests can come from all walks of life and backgrounds, there are unwritten rules of civility that need to be followed, ESPECIALLY when you're a guest to a FILIPINO Wedding.

5 Things You Should Never Do in a Filipino Wedding

#1:  Comment on anybody's weight.

It is natural for people to notice weight differences at first glance. Whether you're in a wedding or just bumped into an old friend, zip you mouth when it comes to commenting about their weight. No matter how noticeable the weight loss or weight gain may be, divert your thoughts into a different compliment.

For example, instead of saying you gained a lot of weight, say "You look lovely today." or "I like your fashion sense."

Be genuinely truthful and not make something up. This means you have to look for something positive or good in that person.

Reason for this is because people may be silently carrying negative self-image or have been struggling emotionally about "what's wrong in their body" and the more you emphasize on their insecurity, the more they'll draw away from the crowd and even avoid you in the future.

It may seem like a harmless joke, but when you're in a Filipino wedding where everyone dresses up in their best suit and attire, compliment where it is due and just keep silent when you notice unpleasant about their appearances on that day.

#2: Ask for additional menu or food other than what is served.
Filipinos are foodie people. Our tongues are native to a variety of dishes and so it is natural that in big celebrations, we tend to fill our plates with all that's offered on the buffet table. It's okay really to binge eat while in a celebration.

However, asking for something that's not in menu or not offered on the table is a no-no. That's rude and condescending attitude making you look an entitled idiot. Unless you paid for the wedding, your only right is where you should be seated accordingly.

The couple and their families prepared for this day and I'm sure they thought hard about the menu and what to serve their guests according to what they can afford.

The key here is RESPECT the family that invited you in. Eat whatever they have prepared for the guests and swallow your stinking behavior.

#3: Hoard Wedding Souvenirs or Welcome gifts.
I've been a wedding souvenir hoarder once and I realized it's not worth it. I know Filipinos love to accumulate trinkets, souvenirs, and memorabilia from important events. Ultimately, what you've hoard will end up on the display cabinet gathering dust in the years to come.

So, check your greed once in awhile. Sometimes, there are extra souvenirs that may be left on the table because some invited guests did not arrive. Usually, the the  Davao wedding coordinator will secure them so that couple will deliver them later on to appreciate these people's presence in their lives, not just during the wedding.

Although there may be extra souvenirs or favors, it does not give you the right to "own" it as you already have been given your share of the souvenirs.

#4: Stand in the way of the Photographers.
There are many worst things that could happen in an event or any occasion in life. But if you caused the mishap, then you are responsible for the consequences of your actions.

The couple hired a photo and video team for a reason. These professionals have trained for many years and understand the conditions that affect a great photo.

Now, if you're a guest in the wedding, we understand your excitement, eagerness, and eccentric feelings during the day. And perhaps you're thinking you have the latest phone with the best specs to capture a photo so why not capture unlimited photos and videos, right? You'd probably want to position on the aisle or the middle of the stage to capture special moments, but I beg you to STOP for awhile.

Didn't you ever consider that despite your friend or family of the couple knowing that you have the latest gadget, they didn't authorize you to document their wedding?

So when you hinder the way of the professional photographers and video team, you are actually destroying the couple's wedding day. So, please let the professionals do what they're best at.

#5: Ask to be included in the hair and makeup or entourage.

Filipinos love to look nice in the photos. We understand that if you are family or close friend, you get the priority being chosen as part of the entourage or VIP in the wedding.

But as long as you were not included in the wedding entourage or any package, don't insist. And if you do insist, please have the courtesy to pay for your own attire, hair and makeup or whatever wedding package you're trying to avail.

Conclusion

Weddings bring out the best of all emotions. And it is one day that everything seems beautiful, grand and bliss. Couple strive hard to organize their dream weddings as promoted in the movies. No one really knows the struggles, efforts, time and money put into planning and organizing a wedding, so as a guest, family, close friend, colleague or acquaintance, give them all the SUPPORT they can get from you without overstepping their boundaries.

You may suggest ideas, but never impose. You may express your opinion, but it is up to them to decide what's best for them given their time and resources on hand.

There are more tips on what to do and not to do during weddings. These are just the tip of the iceberg!

How to Plan A Surprise Birthday Party for Your Senior Parents

Planning a surprise party for your parents can be a great way to show them your appreciation and love. However, it requires careful planning and attention to detail to make sure it goes off without a hitch.

If you're an only child, you will need to collaborate with your aunts, uncles, or cousins to carry out the plan without arousing suspicion from your parents. If you're with siblings, planning is a little bit easier when everyone's on board.

The great thing about our senior parents is that they're fairly easy to distract because they're so trusting of us, their children! Moreover, the key to the successful planning of a surprise birthday party is teamwork!

Here are some tips to help you plan the perfect surprise party for your parents.

Surprise Birthday Party

  1. Set a budget: Before you start planning the party, determine how much you want to spend. This will help you make decisions about the venue, food, decorations, and entertainment.
  2.  Choose a date: Consider your parents' schedules and find a date that works well for everyone involved. If you're not sure, try to get a general idea of when they might be free and plan accordingly.
  3.  Pick a venue: Depending on the size of the party, you can either host it at your own home or rent a venue. Consider factors like the size, location, and cost when making your decision.
  4.  Invite guests: Make a list of people you would like to invite, including close family members, friends, and coworkers. Make sure to give them plenty of notice so they can plan accordingly.
  5.  Decide on food and drinks: Choose a menu that your parents will enjoy, whether it's a formal sit-down dinner or a casual buffet. Make sure to consider any dietary restrictions or allergies when planning the menu.
  6.  Choose decorations: Decorate the venue to match the theme of the party. You can use balloons, streamers, and other decorations to create a festive atmosphere.
  7.  Plan entertainment: Consider hiring a DJ or band to provide music, or arrange games and activities to keep guests entertained. You can also hire a photographer to take photos of the party to commemorate the occasion.
  8.  Keep it a secret: This is the most important part of planning a surprise party. Make sure to keep the party a secret from your parents, and ask guests to do the same. You can even consider asking a close family member or friend to act as a decoy and distract your parents on the day of the party.
  9.  Plan transportation: If the party is being held at a different location, make sure to arrange transportation for your parents so they don't suspect anything.
  10.   Be flexible: Despite your best efforts, things may not always go according to plan. Be flexible and be prepared to make changes as needed.

In conclusion, planning a surprise party for your parents takes a bit of effort, but the end result is well worth it. By following these tips, you can ensure that your parents have a memorable and enjoyable time. Remember to be patient, have fun, and make sure that everything is perfect for your parents.
