The Wedding Business Management

My passion for  helping soon-to-wed couples and  creating great memorable events stem from the long history of wanting to create parties way back in my childhood years.

In High School and College, I didn't realize yet the potential of my being an event planner while I was already heavily engaged in social events from public to private affairs of people. Well, at that time, my mind was young and all I could think of was just having fun with volunteer work. Yes, I volunteered all the time to plan programs, host programs, create concepts for parties, social meetings and gatherings and life celebrations such as weddings.

Years of being in the event industry working for free, I finally understood that I was gaining so much experience with every event. But then my problem back then, and maybe upto now is that I really didn't have formal education in the Events industry much more about business management aspect. I was loaded with experience but with no idea how the business runs.

After test run of two years, I finally understood the dynamics of the professional events industry and was willing to create an operational system within our team. Sadly, I was confronted with the reality that my team members have also an aim to learn all they could from me so that one day or maybe possibly simultaneously establish their own business just like this. I was taken aback since I had a year full of dreams for this company together with my team and how they have proven to be so untrustworthy.

So then I have to let them go because I could no longer trust them with my ideas and skills. Lesson learned is to screen very well my assistants and make them part of the business and not just some mere employees. Then maybe they'd understand that this company is not just me but all of us.

Weddings can be very emotional events. It is very important for me as the head event planner to always think on my feet and use my head to tackle whatever comes during the wedding event.  It is also equally important to have a team with dedication and knowledge on the know how of the event planning and not just a team who have individual hidden agenda for their own benefit.

In this new year full of hopes in 2013, I say I'm starting all over again with the process. As this company turns two years old, more growth is expected. This time, I will choose new team mates, train them and make them not just assistants but associates of this ever growing company I have laboriously established in the last two years.

So help me God!
